Making a Will can feel like a complex process, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are some simple steps to help you get ready.

1. Make a list of what you own and any debts you have

Your estate is everything you own and could include your house, car, jewellery, or favourite records. Note down the value of these items as well as any money you owe.

2. Decide who and what matters most to you

Think about how you’d like to provide for others in your Will, such as your family, friends, a neighbour, or your favourite charities.

3. Consider how your dependents will be looked after

If you have children, people you care for, or pets, decide who you would like to take care of them.

4. Choose who will carry out your wishes

An executor is the person who ensures wishes in your Will are followed. It could be a friend, family member, or professional.

5. Note down any questions or worries

Having these ready will help you get all the answers you need at your appointment.
