Old name, new purpose: why we’ve gone back to RNID

Getting used to hearing aids

Most face-to-face audiology services are running a bit differently because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Contact your audiology provider to find out what services they are offering and how you can access them. If you need help finding contact details, please contact us.

It might take around a couple of months to get used to your new hearing aids, but don’t worry if it takes longer than this. The more often you wear your hearing aids, the faster you’ll get used to them.

When you first get hearing aids, it will take some time to get used to:

  • the feeling of them in your ears
  • using different settings
  • cleaning and maintaining them
  • adjusting to all the new sounds you can hear.

If you need help with hearing aids, visit get support online. It’s our service with tailored information for people who think they may have hearing loss, are thinking about getting hearing aids or have hearing aids and want to get the most out of them.
